Pentecost Stained Glass Window with St. Stephen

Project Details

This Pentecost window for St. Stephen Catholic Church in Oak Creek was shaped through a careful and thoughtful design process, attentive both to theological clarity and artistic restraint. Fr. Stephen’s direction emphasized a unified visual language, drawing from the quieter Renaissance palette found in Spanish masters such as Juan de Juanes and Maino. The composition seeks to balance clarity and movement, allowing the scene to unfold with a sense of ordered dynamism appropriate to Pentecost, while maintaining harmony across the whole.

Only after the project was underway did an unexpected connection come to light.

Fr. Stephen had previously studied in Lima, Peru, and wrote his graduate thesis on the role of devotional imagery—particularly El Señor de los Milagros—in shaping identity, community, and a sense of home among Peruvian immigrants.

Inspired Artisans itself was founded by Gianfranco, who is from Peru, where this devotion remains one of the most profound expressions of lived faith.

What emerged was a quiet but meaningful overlap between the origins of the studio and the theological interests of the pastor—one rooted in lived experience, the other in study, yet both centered on the significance of sacred imagery.

It is a reminder that sacred art is rarely isolated. It carries within it the weight of personal histories, cultural traditions, and, at times, quiet providence.
