In mid-May 2009, Inspired Artisans completed one of the largest commissions in the history of the studio at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. This extensive project included stained and etched glass, mosaics and a sculptural reredos, resulting in the creation of a truly inspirational, final resting place and a showpiece for the Catholic Diocese of Rockville Centre.Visitors approaching the chapel are greeted by the colorful Our Lady of the Rosary stained glass window, which covers a total of 95 square feet. In addition, the Mysteries of the Rosary are depicted in four panels of Venetian glass mosaic mounted in niches along the chapel’s exterior.
In addition to the Our Lady of the Rosary window, we also installed over 800 square feet of etched glass accented with gold leaf in 60 different window panels. These panels represent scenes from the life of Christ, including the Last Supper, the Transfiguration, the Baptism of Christ, the Wedding Feast at Cana and the Proclamation of the Heavenly Kingdom. In addition, panels also depict Symbols of the Virgin Mary and Symbols of the Eucharist.
A beautiful three-dimensional reredos wall was also created for the mausoleum chapel. The Scene at Calvary, with the Virgin Mary and St. John flanking Christ on the cross, was depicted in hand carved and colored linden wood.
